There is a small gap in your home decorating between Christmas and winter décor to spring. That gap is called February. What do we do with this month of all things LOVE?

I have to admit, I’ve been a sucker for Valentine’s Day since Kindergarten. That’s when I made my first Valentine box for our class Valentine card exchange. It was all things pink, all things red, and all things hearts. It made my heart pitter patter. It even had candy hearts with words like “Be Mine” and “Puppy Love” stuck on lace dollies with Elmer’s glue. This heart candy today doesn’t have the same appeal as it did back in 1973. Today, these candies say “Text Me” and Tweet Me” and everything in between!

I continued my love for all things pink and floral into my college years at Harding University. It balanced out the gaudy orange furniture in the room.

Valentine Decor Does Not Have to Be Tacky!

With that little backstory, I think February is a wonderful transition month. Yes, it’s the coldest month of the year. If you’re like me, it’s the month I’d like to move to Florida for four weeks. But how do we turn gray skies into sunshine? Let’s make this month of love our transition to spring! It won’t be long before we all feel hope once again when we see the daffodils start peaking through the frozen ground.

Until then, let’s all ban together to banish the cold to the outdoors, and bring love and warmth to the inside of our homes with some sweet touches your whole family will appreciate. Valentine’s Day décor does not have to be tacky! It can be all things lovely.

7 Ways to Bring Love to Your Home Decor

1. Faux Florals (and real)

I’m a sucker for faux florals – whites, creams, but especially pinks. My best sources are Hobby Lobby, Home Goods, Amazon and Wayfair.

The great thing is you can transition these faux flowers to other colors once spring rolls around, or keep them pretty in pink.

Every room needs to have life, whether it’s real or faux. This can be plants, greenery or flowers. Make sure to bring some pretty florals into your home this month.

These ranunculus stems from Hobby Lobby are my favorite and not expensive when you get them on 1/2 price week. Remember Hobby Lobby rotates their department half-price sales every two to three weeks.

An entry way of faux florals is a beautiful way to greet family and friends. I love using the Magic Rule of Three with a vase of faux flowers, family photos and/or candles.

2. Cakes Stands & Cookbook Stands

A beautiful way to decorate your buffet for Valentine’s Day, and any holiday, is with cake stands. Choose a variety of styles and heights to make it interesting. Read my post on my 7 favorite cake stands!

Another thing I can’t resist is a pretty cookbook holder. I leave two up year-round in my kitchen. Below are my favorites that I have enjoyed over the years.

My Favorite Cookbook Stands

  • White Washed Mango Wood Cookbook Stand from Southern Living – perfect for any Southern kitchen
  • Hand Carved Cookbook Holder from World Market – super unique and funky
  • Vintage Cast Iron Cookbook Stand – a classic and always in style

With every great cookbook stand, you need a great cookbook. My old favorite is Ina Garten. I have almost every book she has ever published.

But my new favorite is “Love, Welcome, Serve” by my hometown girl Amy Hannon. I received it as a gift from my beautiful and talented niece Peggy Ford who works at Amy’s adorable kitchen shop Euna Mae’s in Springdale, Arkansas. Her Gran’s Strawberry Cake is perfect for Valentine’s Day and delightful on any cake stand!

3. Pink Dishes & Kitchen Gadgets

You can’t put your Valentine desserts on paper plates. Dress up your sweets with my favorite pink dessert plate! These Italian-inspired Pastel Glass Dessert Plates are available at Dillards from Vietri.

Who doesn’t love a pink stand mixer to whip up all your delicious Valentine desserts? This mixer from Kuppet is feminine and fun while being strong and functional!

Make your Valentine a heart-shaped breakfast from eggs to pancakes. This little pink heart skillet will delight your kids and your hubby!

Every kitchen needs fresh tea towels once in a while. Don’t you just love these cute-as-a-button buffalo check tea towels?

4. Valentine Wreath & Doormats

Front porch Valentine décor.
Neighborly love forevermore.
Shades of reds and pinks galore.
Warm our hearts and pretty our doors.

Welcome family and friends with a pretty Valentine wreath. I love a more subtle approach to Valentine decorating. So this pink floral beauty from Wayfair works great from February all through spring.

This simple but sweet “Home❤️” doormat is made from recycled coconut husks. This eco-friendly doormat helps support a cottage industry in Kerala, India. It’s hand-painted and a lovely way to greet your loved ones.

5. The Perfect Valentine Candle

Imagine walking through a field of peonies punctuated with magnolia trees — that is this candle. Franklin local candle company, Amber Vale Home also adds notes of lemon and mint, so you will be enveloped with a feeling of freshness and inspiration!

6. Cuddly Throws

February is truly in the dead of winter. Wrap yourself in luxury with this yummy pale pink heated throw blanket made from super soft Sherpa.

I love a good blanket, and this over-sized classic cable knit sweater and Sherpa throw fits the bill. It’s reversible and long enough to cover your feet. A cozy addition to your sofa, this throw is made by Sweetie Pie and available on Wayfair.

Keep the home fires burning and cozy up with some cuddly throws, and after you’re finished toss them in my favorite sea grass basket by Walmart. These baskets look great next to your fireplace.

7. A Little Humor

I love adding a touch of humor and/or whimsy throughout your home. It lightens the mood. Solomon said, “laughter is good medicine.”

I adore Ashley Robustelli’s Fearfully Made Creations shop. All her work is freehand. This adorable “Hello Sweet Cheeks” sign is perfect for any bathroom.

Ashley builds each sign by cutting, sanding, painting, and assembling the materials in her workshop. In addition, Ashley paints each sign by hand with her freehand calligraphy! She is a self-taught calligrapher and hand-paints her pieces, never using vinyl, fonts, or stencils.

Here’s a bonus tip!

Fill your home with LOVE songs. My absolute favorite is Ina Garten’s playlist of Love Songs available on Apple Music or Spotify.

I am praying your home is filled with love and laughter not only this Valentine’s Day, but every day of the year.

Amore! ?
