There’s a reason far above lamps, mirrors and rugs for my inspiration to have a lovely home. Yes, I love pretty things, new things, vintage treasures, and all things sentimental. But what is my reason why? Why do I bother to decorate my home? What’s all the fuss?
Well, what’s the reason any of us should want a lovely home? For me, it’s not to be flashy or showy. I came from very humble beginnings. I was raised by a strong, single mom. I had no brothers or sisters. We lived very modestly on South Main Street, just a few blocks from the Downtown Bentonville (Arkansas) square and the Walmart Museum. My mom worked for Mr. Sam making $5/hour.

My mom, Lana, taught me how to work hard and value an education. She showed me how to throw a great party and the value of a delicious punch recipe. Most importantly, she explained why I should not just go to church, but honor God. My grandmother, Erma, taught me how to cook, how to laugh, how to tidy small spaces, and how to see beauty in the smallest of flowers and birds.
Decorating is An Extension of Your Family Love

Decorating a lovely home for me is an act of love. Showing God’s love to my family by decorating a beautiful space is important. It doesn’t need to be expensive or excessive. Just like providing all your family’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, creating a lovely home is just another extension of that care.
This was a year of faith for our family. We launched both Buffie’s Home Decorating and Lovely Franklin. In addition, my husband’s sister, Patty, bravely moved to Tennessee after living her whole life in Michigan.
It has also been a year of blessings, our daughter, Brittany, and son-in-law, Damian, are expecting their first baby, Isabella. They are calling her Belle. She will be the first grandchild on both sides of the family. How fun is that?
My Guys…

I am beyond blessed to live with these three incredible men. Our sons, Brandon and Baron, are tall, handsome, growing in character and in their career paths. My husband, Chuck, continues to lead our family with joy, kindness and encouragement. He is full of wisdom and strength.
How could I ever thank God enough for all these gifts of love? These are the reasons why I decorate. Now, tell me your reasons why in the comments below.
I’m here for YOU!
